Just call him Mr. Fix It

My dishwasher has been broken for a three months now. It has been rough but part of me has enjoyed the time standing at the sink with nothing to do but think. It is kind of therapeutic.
I have procrastinated calling a repair man. I have worried that it will cost almost as much to fix it as it will to replace it. El Guapo tried to fix it a couple of months ago, but he could not get it working.
Some days have been better than others. My husband has actually been surprised at how well I have kept up with the dishes, but this week I have not done so well. Today I had to wash dishes to use them. So, El Guapo decided he was going to help me out and do them.
He went into the kitchen tonight and I heard him in there clunking around. Suddenly I heard what sounded like the dishwasher starting! He peeked around the corner and smiled. I asked if that was really the dishwasher and he said, "You know, we have little buddies right?."
"What?"
"You know those little buddies like to get in to things, right?"
"Yeah?"
"You know how there is a thing called a plug?"
"Oh. My. Gosh!"

Yep. It was unplugged.
I laughed until I cried. They were happy tears, I think.

Happy Blog Birthday to ME!

Lucky's first birthday. June 2007.


Today is my blog birthday. I am so happy I started this thing. It sure does not feel like it has been a year ago. Hmmmm, this could be a really good excuse to make cake today! I think I'll do that, and then strip off my shirt and eat it with my hands and get it all over my face and take lots and lots of pictures! Well, I might eat the cake with my hands, but there will probably not be any pictures. And as for the shirt...well, you will never know because there will be no pictures. ;)

Hooray! It's time for autumn candles, my homemade potpourri, yummy food, and cute decorations!

El Guapo is happy it is fall because of this...

He even had me buy him some of the pumpkin ice cream tonight to help welcome the fall season.

I just made these wooden decorations last week. I'm still trying to decide where to put them. They were pretty fun to make, especially since I bought them last year after Thanksgiving for about $1.50 and covered them with paper that cost about that much too. Pretty cheap for a decoration.

The Oklahoma State Fair

I love fairs. If I could afford it I would travel the country and visit every state fair! Oklahoma has a great one. We have gone every year since we moved here. Last year we decided to get the unlimited rides wrist band...and a tradition was born.

We took Ned out of school a couple of hours early and left Lucky with my friend, Mrs. Morty (everyone really needs a friend like her, she is awesome!) and we spent the rest of the day on rides at the fair.

The weather was perfect! We started out on the fun house. Oh, I should mention that I took my little digital camera (I was not going to haul my huge camera around) so the pictures are not great. I have forgotten how annoying it is to take pictures with a regular digital camera!

Then we hit the huge slide. You can get some good air on those things! We met up with El Guapo's best friend and he went on the slide with Dusty.

The boys spent a lot of time in the kiddie area.

There was one ride that the boys really loved that was race cars that would whip them around the corner. It was so fun to watch all of the kids as they came around the turn. They would giggle and some (Dusty included) would throw their arms around and scream!

There were a few rides that we were able to ride with the boys.

There were also several of the bigger rides that Ned was willing and able to ride with me. Our favorite to ride together is the Spider. We call it the Octopus and we never miss it. Photo from Flicker.

I was sick of carrying the camera around so I took it to the car. I got this final shot on my cell phone. I loved seeing my boys riding with their daddy and that you could see all of the lights from the fair. I love the fair at night.

We had a great time and the boys are already asking how long it is until we go again!

Septemberfest

Two Saturdays ago we went to Septemberfest. I took about a bazillion pictures. We were very busy and I don't want to leave anything out for the sake of this years blog book. I want it all recorded. So, I decided to make a game of it for you. We are going to play I Spy. Doesn't that sound fun? It doesn't? Well, sorry, you will have to bear with me. :)

(By the way, that crazy shirt he is wearing is a football jersey for work, I asked him, "Are you really going to wear that before work and to the Septemberfest?" So I think that is why he kept his jacket on as long as he could stand it at the fair. He didn't want me to be embarrassed.)
