I Love LIFE

El Guapo and I have been married for ten years. It is amazing how much life can change in just 10 years.

When I was a little girl I loved to play The Game of LIFE. I have never been very interested in board games, but one that you get married and have kids, that's my kind of game! I would even play it by myself, spinning the wheel over and over until I landed on the Getting Married, Baby Boy, Baby Girl, or Twins spaces (whew! glad that last one never happened in real life!) So, when I heard a song called The Song of LIFE on the kids radio station it immidiatly brought back memories and I thought it was a great theme song for me and El Guapo. I love El Guapo and I am glad he is the little blue peg sitting next to me in the game of life.

Lighten Up!

I feel like I need to lighten the mood here on my blog. I don't like to be a complainer, and I can't stand that the last post has been sitting there at the top of my blog for so long. So, I decided to tell you a couple of funny things that made me laugh yesterday.

I was talking to El Guapo about how our bodies have changed so much in the past (almost) ten years since we got married. He has been so annoyed that he is starting to gain weight in his tummy. I tell him that he is just finally getting a 'Daddy belly' and I love it! He said, "I have lived my whole life without a father figure, I don't need one now!"

Earlier in the day I was talking to my little sister about our skin and the fact that mine has not been that great for the last couple of years (pregnancy and nursing was good to me, but then I took a little break from that and my skin was not happy). She told me about some face wash that she just bought and it reminded me of a funny thing that happened last year with Dusty. This is a story that I would normally put on the boys' individual pages (if you click on their pictures on the sidebar you can read funny things that they have said or done) but I just wanted to share it here because it was just too hilarious to hide on his page that no one visits.

Two years ago, around Christmastime Dusty said, "I totally want that!" at every toy commercial. Then last year he started in the summertime to say, "I totally want to get that for you." to any commercial that had to do with women. Dove, Colgate Total, Tide, Summer's Eve, etc. It was too funny. Well, one day a Proactive commercial came on and Dusty said, "Mommy, I want to get that for you." He then turned around to look at me and said, "Oh, you already have that." I thought it was interesting that he said that, then I realized that he was talking about the BEFORE pictures. Yes, I did already have that. Nice.

Well, it was really nice to have a little laugh yesterday. I hope it made you laugh too.

If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.

Many of you know that I am pregnant. It has not been much of a secret since my (dear, sweet) husband decided to announce it on his Facebook less than a week after we found out! I'll admit it took me a while (probably until I saw the cute, little baby on the ultrasound a few weeks ago [see photo on my sidebar]) to get used to the idea, but I am happy about it and can't wait to have this baby join our family.

That is my excuse for not posting here lately. I get very sick (even on medications) for the entire pregnancy. It is hard to describe it to other women that don't feel like this during their pregnancies (so I won't try). It's just pretty horrible, and let's just face it, I don't have many nice things to say about it. I have even had a hard time posting updates on my Facebook status. All I really want to say is... Scrappy is counting down the minutes until she can take another Zofran. or...Scrappy wishes she was asleep because that is the only time she feels well. or...Scrappy hopes her children's brains don't turn into mush because of all of the video games and TV. Yeah, not very nice at all.

I really do have nice things to say though. I have had so many people offer to help. I am overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of others. It is really hard to let people help me, but when I ask other people if they need something I want them to tell me what I can do, and I assume that is what others want too. I think we will all be blessed for their kindness, especially them.

So, if you don't hear from me much for a while, just know that I am happy, but just trying to make it through. I will get back to posting when I have a lot of nice things to say. :)

Happy Birthday, Lucky!

Today is Lucky's third birthday. It is hard to believe it has been three years since he was born.
We celebrated on Thursday by going to Chuck E. Cheese's to play and eat pizza.

Lucky only played 3 or 4 games/rides. He would get stuck playing on one thing. This was one of his favorites.


Today I was not able to go to church because I have strep throat, but I sent my boys so they could sing to their daddy on Father's Day (Thank you to the Willicuties and the Foys for sitting with my boys at church so I could stay home and get better!) While they were gone I made a cake for Lucky.


He was so happy to have a Wow Wow Wubbzy cake. It was a last minute decision for me, but he loved it.


He (and his brothers) loved his gifts too.


I had a little bit of extra cake and frosting so I made this for El Guapo, just for fun.


I saw a cute idea on a random blog yesterday. A little girl was turning three and her whole family wrote a list of three things they loved about her. Just in time for Lucky's birthday...

El Guapo's list:
1~ I love his little side smile (smirk) that he gives people when he is being shy or stubborn. Cara captured it while taking our family pictures.
This is pretty mild, it is usually a little bit more drastic, but you get the idea.
2~ I love his love of technology. (Lucky can do anything his eight year old brother can do on the laptop, Wii, DS, etc. It is pretty crazy to watch, actually.)
3~ I love that when his brothers are sad he will say, "You want your daddy?" or, "You alright?"

My list:
1~ See #1 on El Guapo's list.
2~ I love his little voice and funny things he says. I don't know if it is just because he is my youngest and the other boys had younger siblings by now, but he is just so baby-ish to me still. I am loving every moment that he is still young. I feel like I hurried the other boys along too much.
3~ This could really be the #1 favorite thing for me. I LOVE his kisses. This boy can pucker up like no one else I know. I love his lips. He is just so sweet! I wish I could bottle his little kisses.

Ned's list:
1~ He's really funny.
2~ I love that he tries to make me feel better when I am sad or hurt.
3~ I like that he shares with me.

Dusty's list:
1~ I love that he has candy and he shares it with me.
2~ I love him when he shares his toys, his new present toys.
3~ I love when he says he will share things with me.
LOL! :)

Threes

They say that trouble comes in threes. After this past month or so I would have to agree.

1--Right around the first of May El Guapo broke a part of one of his teeth off. Three days later he looked like this:



And, as with many things, these pictures do not do it justice.

El Guapo had an abscess tooth. I have never seen this man in so much pain. I sat up with him late at night, watching him writhe in pain. I decided that this is what it must feel like to watch your wife be in labor. It is horrible to feel so helpless.

He went to the oral surgeon and had a drain put in and was put on antibiotics. The next week he had a root canal and still has to have another one done in the near future.

2--El Guapo had an extra day off last week to make up for the fact that he had to work on Memorial Day. So nice! We decided to take a little road trip down to a place called Meers. The post for that fun adventure should have looked like this post over at my friend, Cara's blog. Instead our day went like this:

Waiting...

We never got to Meers or the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. Our good friend, Mrs. Morty found a babysitter for her children and traveled an hour or so (each way) to come and save us. (THANK YOU!!!) She didn't even complain when we stopped to eat at McDonald's (not even a close replacement for Meers) to have lunch.

At least where we got stuck was a really pretty place.

We did have a little bit of entertainment while we waited for the tow truck.

We have had problems with our van's transmission for the last few years and knew it was just a matter of time before it broke down. It is nice to have it fixed, and it only took 3 days. Not too bad.

3--Dusty has always had not-so-great teeth. His mouth breathing from allergies and all of the medications he has had to take have not helped that out at all. Last fall he had to have a crown put on one of his teeth. When he went in for his regular check up in March the dentist said that one of his fillings looked a little loose and we should keep an eye on it and get it fixed when we could. He did not complain about it and I forgot about it (shame on me!) so it never got taken care of. About a week and a half ago he complained that his tooth hurt, right where that tooth is, which happens to be right next to the one with the crown. Two days later I was helping him brush his teeth and I noticed that his gums were bleeding. I looked and saw, above his crown, a bump on his gums. He, too, had an abscess tooth.

When he had the crown put on he had a TERRIBLE (to say the least) experience so we knew that next time he had to have anything major done in his mouth we would have to put him under for the procedure (ugh! as I type that it just sounds awful, but I don't know what else to do). They are going to fix everything that needs to be done, all at once. That will be nice for him.

All of that stuff cost a very pretty penny. If only good news came in threes!
